You’re JUST a boy!

So, it’s Thanksgiving, but we live in Florida, so swimming is an appropriate way to end the day here. We had a nice quiet holiday, and my ex-husband, our two girls, my son, and my girlfriend headed to the resort water park to float down the lazy river and just play. After two trips down the relaxing water feature, we found our way to the zero-entry pool, (that means it slopes down like a beach rather than the typical stair entry-it’s much better for small children and offers them a safer, more fun play area), and watched as Sweet-P and P-nut, (our 4yo daughter), played. A little boy who was there when we got there joined P-nut before too long, both of them frolicking and laughing as they played. At some point they lay on their tummies in a couple inches of water, face to face, discussing the deep secrets of existence that 3 and 4 year old children discuss.
Suddenly, the little boy aggressively leaps to his feet, and puffs out his chest, squinting at P-nut with the most intimidating look he can muster.
P-nut looks up at him, jumps to her feet, puffs out her chest, and bumps him.
He stumbles back, and falls on his tush in the water, looking at P-nut as if to say, “Oh. Well. I guess I won’t mess with YOU.”
P-nut peers down at him defiantly and says, “You’re JUST a boy!”
